God's Minimum Expectation is Excellence!

Reclaim the FIRE! – Day 84

From:  The Pastor’s Heart
Title: “The Strategy of a Good LEADER”

This morning I was watching the politics news show ‘Morning Joe’ on MSNBC and was
reminded of something that I wanted to bring to your attention today. A question arose
regarding how President Obama is responding to the recent shooting deaths of Alton
Sterling (Baton Rouge, LO), Philando Castile (St. Paul, MN), Lorne Ahrens, Michael Smith,
Michael Krol, Patrick Zamarripa, and Bent Thompson (Dallas, TX). Rev. Al Sharpton
happened to be one of the guest commentators on the show and he basically said, “The
President will be and is being criticized no matter what he says and does. Some will
complain he’s saying too much and others will argue he’s not saying enough. For him, it’s
a NO WIN situation.”

It was saddening again to be reminded of how divided our country is that no matter what
you do sometimes, many will find fault in it. It also, however, encouraged me to hear that
President Obama was moving forward doing what he felt was right in his heart regardless
of what critics would say. And that’s what you and I have to do when standing as believers
in this spiritual warfare we face every day. We must opt to say and do what’s right from the
heart of our God despite what others feel. We must also say and do what’s right from the
heart of our God despite how we ourselves feel about it.

One of the hardest things to do is adhere to a doctrine of Christ that contradicts how you
may have been taught to believe. I’ll give you an example. Many of us have been taught
that if somebody hits you, you turn around and hit them right back; but Jesus, however,
said, “If a man strikes you on one side of your cheek, turn to him the other.”
This means that we are not to return evil for evil, but rather combat evil with good and battle hate
with love.

Great leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., taught us that non-violent unified protest can
bring about more positive changes than could be achieved by individual rioting and anger.
He received his wisdom and marching orders from our Savior who showed us the power
of eternal change through personal sacrifice and the relinquishing of our fleshly will for
the will of God. When we are standing up and speaking out for right and righteousness,
then our ultimate aim should be that others see the God in us and respond favorably to
His word and way of doing things.

It’s not necessary that we receive recognition for our labor, but that at the end of it all, God
is glorified and the doctrines of Satan are destroyed. It’s not always easy or popular to
defend the doctrine of the Lord, but it’s certainly the most rewarding stance you can ever
make. A good leader sees the bigger picture and realizes that right is just right regardless of
who feels differently. Be that good and strong leader today!

EVERYTHING WE DO MOVING FORWARD WILL BE INTENTIONAL AND DRIVEN WITH
PURPOSE TO REPRESENT THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN THE BEST POSSIBLE LIGHT!
NOTHING WILL BE DONE WITH ENERGY LESS THAN OUR BEST AND EFFORT BELOW
OUR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL.

OUR SERVICE IS LOCAL, BUT OUR REACH IS GLOBAL – SO WE CANNOT REDUCE OUR
PRESENTATION DOWN TO WHAT’S CONVENIENT, BUT RATHER WE MUST RAISE IT TO
THAT WHICH IS EXPLOSIVE!

Get ready for major change that’s coming systematically, intellectually, purposefully, and
professionally. Nothing we do moving forward will be done haphazardly, sloppily, poorly,
or carnally.

We Are the LIGHT!

Sincerely,

Pastor J.E. Chandler, Sr.
